My diploma paper at MBA (2012-2014) was about startup companies in innovative hi tech products segment. So, I introduced software product under the name KitchenForce (www.kitchenforce.lt) which was targeted for restourant segment. Target was to simplify restaurant management and at the end connect restaurants and supplies into one database. First part of software was successfully introduced into the market and currently running in about 30 restaurants.

Restaurants business was very new for me, so in order to understand better needs of restaurant owners I decided to open one. That was my dream Neapolitan style pizzeria under the name PIZZA VERDE (www.pizzaverde.lt). To understand how to make authentic Neapolitan pizza I went to Naple, and have finished their special school for pizza makers, also I got perfect practice with best pizza masters in Naple.  So, now i'm successfully running authentic Neapolitan style pizzeria in Vilnius Kalvariju 101A.  All main ingredients for the pizza we importing ourselves as well distributing for other pizzerias. This is the test field to develop future chain concept. Running restaurant and developing software at the same time, we found perfect combination how two different businesses concepts can support each other.

"Fun Run“ has already been operating for two years as a commercial events organization company, but for me it is still more of an inspiring hobby rather than business as usual.

The beginnings of the company can be traced back to around 10 years ago to family weekends with friends – exploring different parts of Lithuania by car in a sort of game form was much more interesting for both parents and children than just sitting around on the porch. Seven years ago I offered this idea to the BMI Alumni association and now I am really proud that “Summer Adventure” has become a traditional event which was held for 7 times already. Two years ago, after organizing my birthday Fun Run in Vilnius for my friends, an idea came to my mind – “I like to do this so much that I could do it for others too, not only for friends!” The next day my idea materialized – I received a call from my BMI Alumni colleague and it took off. It was my first commercial event and a great start for the company!

I have already organized more than 20 events in 2016 – company teambuilding, birthday and even wedding Fun Run’s, both in Vilnius by foot and in different parts of Lithuania by car.

The crown jewel of 2016 was “Fun Run cup 2016 ”- the first open event which we organized together with my BMI classmate Igoris Ryklys. The sponsors (as well as some participants) of this event were also BMI Alumni colleagues - Aurimas Zimnickas (Žirnio krautuvėlė) and Zita Rimkienė (restaurant „Mykolo 4“).

So, I am sure that nothing would have happened without BMI alumni :)

My name is Zilvinas Skardzius, I’m BMI student form group XVII;

At the end of 2015 successfully sold my shares in JSC "Logipolijos wagons”, it was a business which I’m personally were running from the beginning since 2006 and grow it till 20 million EUR annual turnover in 2015. The reason to sell the part of successful business was due to the need for new challenges in manufacturing sector.

First half of 2016 was devoted to the market research of product that we planned to manufacture. The purpose was to make sure, that PT (Push-Twist) type caps for baby foods cups closing, new business idea sustainability and potential. Me and partners established a new company “TIN CAP”, which I am a major shareholder. We planned 3 million EUR production line investment which in Lithuania will create 30 new jobs with the ability to capture up to 10 percent of the target market of PT caps in European Union.

So far, the company carries out preparatory work and in June 2017 getting ready to start production activities in Lithuania in Panevezys. JSC “TIN CAP” "in cooperation with the German company ACTEGA GmbH, conducted the necessary research and development, the implementation of the project" PVC - free Press-On Twist Off® Closure Innovation Project. In 2014 I took the initiative to organize World Mountain Bike Orienteering (MTBO) Championship that will take place in  Vilnius (August 20-17 2017). In 2016 as a preparation for the main event we organized World MTBO cup and World Masters Championship bringing to Kaunas more than 300 top MTBO orienteers from 27 countries. The event was ranked as the best MTBO World Cup stage ever organized. Now we are facing the challenge to organize the best World MTBO Championship in Vilnius.

It was a great pleasure and challenge to volunteer my time and energy for the world-class sports event by leading the team of around 100 volunteers with the aim to organize the competition that would bring MTBO discipline closer to the gates of the Olympic games.

There are more than 500 000 old age people living in Lithuania. Our society is aging at the fastest pace in the whole European Union and it is estimated by 2030 every third resident in the country will be older than 60 years old. All that has been followed by diminishing human and social relationship, loneliness, isolation and even bad health and poverty.

Based on the data from Statistics Lithuania, almost half of the population over 65 years old live alone. They have no one to say good morning to, no one to share anything with a cup of tea, a laugh or a problem. No one to make a day any different from the last.

„Sidabrinė linija“ is a solution we nurture at M. Čiuželio labdaros ir paramos fondas to fight loneliness and isolation of elderly people in Lithuania: it is a free of charge be-friending and support line, providing companionship, advise and support to people facing later life alone or lacking someone to talk to.

Over the first 8 months of activities the number of registered users is rapidly approaching 700 who all together had almost 1800 conversations and enjoyed 48.000 minutes of be-friending conversations.

„Sidabrinė linija“:

  • Offers regular befriending calls.
  • Protects and supports those who are suffering abuse and neglect.
  • Offers companionship, advice and support.
  • Clears the air for the good mood and a better health.
  • Empowers elderly people to overcome difficulties.
