We are pleased to offer BMI graduates a chance to upgrade some of the valuable practical knowledge they got in the BMI International Executive MBA programme (and also, of course, to network!) This is the first instalment of the BMI EMBA Upgrade Session. New and diverse instalments are planned roughly every 6 months. They are open to all BMI EMBA graduates, from class I to the most recent alumni class XIII, and are free of charge. Space is limited.

BMI EMBA Upgrade Session No. 1

Financial Policy: Debt & Equity Mix in Financing Decisions

Date: Feb. 26 (Wednesday), 2014 from 15:30 to 18:30 hrs (registration starts at 15:00)

Lecturer: Professor H. Joel Bessis, HEC Paris

Venue: BMI Executive Hall (Europe Tower, 31st floor)

Registration to jurga@bmi.lt  or 8 (5) 2487247 by Feb. 14

Note: space is strictly limited to 50 participants - registration on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.

The specific topic of this session on “financial policy” deals with the choice of financial instruments such as debt and equity in order to maximize the value of the firm. The review of financial decision-making will centre on analysis of a case study.

Prof. Bessis says: “The link between strategy and financial performance has become more crucial than ever. It is the responsibility of every general manager to develop an understanding of the way a company’s strategic decisions and operating activities affect its financial performance and its ultimate value.”

Registered participants will be sent the case study to read in advance. To upgrade your knowledge before the session, we recommend Chapter 11 “Designing A Capital Structure” of Part 4 “Financing Decisions” of the BMI corporate finance textbook: Hawawini and Viallet, “Finance for ExecutivesManaging for Value Creation”, Thomson Publishing.

Textbooks are available at the BMI Library if needed.
