BMI Alumni @ Vilniaus baldai: LEAN way for furniture to IKEA shelves worldwide

Almost 20 alumni have gathered last Monday to Vilniaus baldai – Lithuanian listed company that during several last years managed to climb high on the list of worldwide suppliers of furniture giant IKEA.

 

BMI Alumni were greeted and received thorough introduction of the company by it’s general manager Rimantas Vaitkus. He explained how company has developed their operations towards cost effective and high-quality producer and what are the aspects of business model with single customer as IKEA.

 

Later everyone had an opportunity to experience views, sounds, smells and feelings of production in are of 51,000 square meters with over 600 employees working there

 

In the third part of the event Alsis Boguslauskas, head of Warehousing unit, elaborated on how LEAN methodologies becomes reality in different areas of Vilniaus baldai.

 

It was the third event in the series of get-to-know to LEAN implementation. The last event will be held on Tuesday, 14th of June when the second field trip will be organized to “Thermo Fisher Scientific”, award-winning example of LEAN implementation in Lithuania. Due to strict limitations, only 15 persons will be registered with priority for participants of first few meetings.
