BMI Alumni meets famous actor and director V. Masalskis

BMI Alumni Association held a non-traditional event, which took place in Lithuanian Nacional Drama Theater, the Small Hall (Mažoji salė). It began with a visit to a one act performance F. Dostoevsky‘s „Nuolankioji“ (Humble), which is directed by famous lithuanian actor, director and professor, the recipient of Lithuanian National Culture and Art Prize, Valentinas Masalskis. He also played a key role in this performance. After the play actor Masalskis joined the participants from BMI Alumni in catchy discussion about every day problems and values of the actor and the theatre, society and life in general.

Valentinas Masalskis told, that role is his music notes. Each time he fights his own battle with the audience and it is not so easy to escape out of the role after the performance. You can laugh, play, and even ridicule, that is it does not mean anything, but it all remains. The role remains in you. Changes the viewer, thus changing and role. There is always a spectator, and you refer to it. Why viewers are not fed up of classics? Because there's an eternal problems, so interesting are the characters.

How does the form of the performance comes? It may be fancy recovered, traced through color, through the line and space, through the light and rate. And when there is a content? Contents occur when you solve the problem. For example, in the "Humble" I come as a Masalskis and consider, what is my ego, how to control the other person. And I do it in the eyes of the viewer. My instrument is the notes. Most important, to convince the audience tonight, that what I do on stage, it makes sense. And then the performance will not be boring because I myself change, the problem itself also changes, and the viewer is changing on a daily basis. And this is eternal struggle.

The actor and participantas have changed with their thoughts and doubts, discussed many other aspects of everyday problems we all face in learning how to hear the environmnet, to hear another person, a partner, a topic.
