BMI Alumni Association held an untraditional event in the workshop of Sigitas Staniūnas, one of the most notable and exclusive Lithuanian artists

On November 20 BMI Alumni Association held an untraditional event which took place in the workshop of Sigitas Staniūnas, one of the most notable and exclusive Lithuanian artists. S. Staniūnas uses both modern techniques and traditional methods in order to explore and expand the world of painting. His artwork links spiritual, idealistic and symbolic elements of both images and colors with historical and psychological contexts. Various art objects and installations are sometimes put on display at the same time in order to emphasize the ideas in his paintings.

"Color is indeed very important in my painting and it has symbolic meaning. Color has universal meaning," Staniūnas told the BMI Alumni. He shared his experience of a carrier spanning more than 20 years, including participation in a number of national and international projects around the world - Brazil, China, Russia, Ukraine, Taiwan and other countries. While his primary medium is painting, the artist also creates performances and site-specific installations. Video documentaries and live music performances also serve to enhance the impact of the artist's work. Mr. Staniūnas and his musician colleagues have also performed live for the BMI Alumni whilst showing many different emotional aspects of their work.
